Setting up your Android phone for MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) with an approval button:
- On your Phone – go to the Play Store and Download Microsoft Authenticator App.
- You must select a Work/School/Business Profile. A personal Profile will not work
- When you do this a QR Code Reader will appear.
- On your Computer go to: aka.ms/mfasetup
- Once you are logged into the aka.ms/mfasetup by entering your Salvation Army email address and your Windows password an Additional Security Verfication web page will show up on your PC.
- Choose the option Use vertification code from app or token under the selection We’ll use this verification option by default
- Next, check the box that says Authentication app or Token
- Then check the box Authentication phone and enter your Salvation Army phone or if you are exempt your personal phone number for your smartphone.
- Click on the button that says Set up Authenticator app
- Then open the app Microsoft Authenticator App on your Android phone and hold your phone so it scans the QR code that is displayed on the web page
- Once the QR code is scanned then click GOT IT button on your Android device.
- Click on the arrow pointing down (should be below the red dot alongside with the three white dots) and choose the option Enable phone sign-in
- Then press the Continue button.
- The phone should now be successfully authenticated.
If all of this has taken place – you are all set.
From now on when anyone attempts to log into any Office applications using your credentials, from any computer – the approval button will show on your cell phone.
