The following are instructions for Android Verse users only.
It appears that some Android users continue to have difficulty getting their devices working now that our Traveler/Verse environment has settled down. If you are an Android user and your device is synching normally, please disregard this email. But, if you are having issues where either your device cannot connect or you have duplicate entries please use the following instructions to uninstall & reinstall Verse on your device.
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BE USING A WIRELESS CONNECTION BEFORE BEGINNING THE FOLLOWING. USE OF CELLULAR DATA ONLY WILL RESULT IN THE PROCESS TAKING SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER THAN IF YOU ARE ON WIFI.
Uninstall
1) On your device open settings.
2) Within settings select "Security"
3) Within security select "Device administrators"
4) Within "Device administrators" uncheck "HCL Verse"
5) You should receive a warning message on your device. Select the option to "Deactivate".
6) You will receive an additional warning message indicating "Deactivating HCL Verse Security will cause your data to be removed." Click OK
7) Return to settings
8) Select Apps
9) Locate and select HCL Verse
10) Click on Uninstall and click OK when you are asked if you're sure
Reinstall
1) On your device open the "Play Store" app
2) Search the "Play Store" app for "HCL Verse"
3) Select the app, "HCL Verse"
4) Click on "Install"
5) Click on "Accept"
6) The app will download to your device and install.
7) Click on "Open"
8) When the app opens, accept the license agreement
9) When presented with the IBM Notes Traveler sign in screen enter the following:
Server: traveler.uscthq.org
User name: your notes email address in Internet format (i.e. xxx.yyy@usc.salvationarmy.org)
Password: your "sametime" password
10) Once you enter the above you will likely receive an HCL Security Alert that asks if you want to accept the certificate and continue. Please select "Yes".
11) You then be prompted if you want to "Activate device administrator"? You must select Activate in order to run Traveler.
12) You may accept the defaults provided on the Sync/Data strorage screen. Click Finish.
13) You should receive a Status message indicating configuration was successful and HCL Verse is now operational. Click OK.
In the background, Verse will begin to sync with your device. Depending on how much mail/calendar/contacts data you have, this could take several minutes (or longer if you are doing this on 3G rather than wireless). You can check to be sure it is syncing by opening the "Notes Traveler" app. It should display "Syncing with the server." until the sync completes.
Hopefully, this will resolve the issues you have been having with your device. If it does not, please do not contact me directly. Instead, forward as much information as you can to our help desk at uscsupport/usc/sarmy.
Thank you.
