The Official method of accessing your Army Outlook Mail file on a mobile device

Microsoft has designed the Outlook Application to work correctly with their software.
As opposed to the Apple and Android Mail Apps which results in the following known issues:

  • Shared Mail Boxes are not visible
  • Drafts are deleted
  • Search function does not work correctly
  • Syncing issues are common

In addition the native Mail App on your phone uses “common mail ports” on our network which are intentionally blocked to prevent malware from reaching our network.  This means that, if you are on campus, you would have to ensure that your mobile device is using your data cellular plan in order to send and receive Outlook mail/calendar entries.

The recommended method of accessing Outlook on your mobile device is to download Microsoft’s Outlook Application.  It is designed to handle all of the aforementioned – and because it works through the Internet rather than network SMTP ports, you can remain connected to Wifi rather than having to switch back and forth.

To install the Outlook Mail App on your mobile device:

1. Open your App Store or Google Play Store

2. Search for Outlook

3. Install the App

4. When it requests your credentials, enter your full Army e-mail address as your user name.

5. Use the same password you use to access your computer in the morning.
