1) Make sure the ColorTrac SmartLf Gx+ T42 is powered on and no paper is in the scanner

2) Hold down the Previous button until the motor turns on the scanner.  The motor will run for about 10 to 15 seconds.

3) Then test the scanner to make sure the scanner works and scans the document without streaks on the PDF.

The Gx+T42 is designed to be able to scan thick media. This is controlled by the Next and Previous buttons. Pressing and holding the Next button will raise the lid to scan thick media. The Previous button lowers it. The raising and lowering is very slow.

Someone probably pressed the Next button for just a bit and did not notice it doing anything. But, it raised the lid up enough so that the rear pinch rollers are not gripping the media. Once the trailing edge of the media passes the front pinch rollers, the media is slipping and creating the colors that you see.

Press and hold the Previous button. You should hear a motor for a little bit. Hold until it stops (maybe 10 seconds). Then try a scan.

Thank you,
