Watchguard Firewall Replacement

Following steps will help to walk through the process of replacing watchguard firewalls. 

  1. Remote technician connects the device and provide login credentials.  (Defauls status - read, admin - readwrite)
  2. Use the divisional Watchguard server (CMDWGS) to launch the Watchguard System Manager.
  3. Save the configuration of the current device using Policy Manager.
  4. Connect to the new device and copy the Feature Key to a text file on the server desktop. (From Policy Manager menu, select Setup, Feature Key, Details).  If the device has not been activated, you will need to activate the device using the wizard and credentials for the watchguard site.
  5. Update the user (status & admin) passwords on the new watchguard device
  6. Open the configuration file of the old device (created in step 3) using Policy Manager.  Select Setup Feature Key, Remove key, then select insert key and paste the feature key of the new device (captured in strep 4).
  7. Save the file to the device

Verify functionality and then upgrade to the current firmware.
