Teams - Chatting with people in different tenants
You may need to Teams Chat with people in different tenants.
IT IS POSSIBLE.
People/Contacts who are not in OUR tenant will appear (during a search or addressing the To field) with either GUEST or External next to their name. We want to choose the "External" entries over "Guest" entries.
This is because External users can chat with us without changing/switching tenants.
1. Start a Teams Chat:
2. In the To: Field type the users FULL e-mail address (ie:michele.kushner@uss.salvationarmy.org)
3. When the options pop up - you need to click on the "Search... externally"button (Just pressing enter will not work)

Guests CAN chat with us, however they must switch to our tenant in order to chat with us. Doing so eliminates their ability to chat with people in their own tenant.
Also, while they are in their own tenant - notifications of new chats from our tenant will not work.
If you are part of multiple tenants you can switch tenants by clicking on your icon on the top right of Teams and all available tenants will display. Click on the one you want to "switch" to the other tenant.
