A YubiKey is a USB (or C) Dongle-type device that will provide the user with an Authentication Key compatible with O365
The YubiKey is an authorized device to suggest to our users who do not have a smart phone – or who refuse to use their personally owned device for the MFA process.
1. Purchase a YubiKey (ie: https://www.yubico.com/product/security-key-nfc-by-yubico-black/?gclid=CjwKCAjwu4WoBhBkEiwAojNdXkmdgMVsoc7fNJ7wPP2zm2yQ0VqnQOiVV-p6slfUD1EXdhhbVX-r0hoChioQAvD_BwE )
2. On your computer – navigate to yubico.com/start
3. Click on Products / Yubico Authenticator / Download Now
4. Install the Yubico Software
5. Navigate to aka.ms/mfasetup and log in
6. Click on “Add in Sign in Method”
7. Select “Authenticator App” and Add
8. Click on "I want to use a different authenticator app"
9. Next
10. When the QR Code appears – Click on the “Can’t Scan Image” button
11. Launch the Yubico Software
12. Insert your YubiKey
13. Top Right of the Yubico Software select the “Configure YubiKey” button
14. Click Add Account
15. Click “Add Manually”
16. Issuer: YubiKey
17. Account Name and Secret Key are on your aka.ms/mfasetup screen. Copy and paste them into the fields in the Yubico Software (if you cannot paste your user name it is because it is too long. Truncate to just your e-mail address)
18. Save
19. Your YubiKey is now set up!
How to use Yubi Key when needing to authenticate in Microsoft 365
From this point forward…. When you successfully log into an O365 system – the 2 digit Authentication numbers will appear.
1. Click on the “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator App”
2. Choose Verification Code
4. Go to your Accounts section and the Access Code will appear to the right of your Salvation Army account profile in the Yubico Authenticator application for you to enter into the authentication window
