Setting up your iOS (Apple) phone for MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) with an approval button:

 

  1. On your Phone – go to the App Store and Download Microsoft Authenticator App.
  2. You must select a Work/School/Business Profile.  A personal Profile will not work.
  3. When you do this a QR Code Reader will appear.
  4. On your Computer go to:  aka.ms/mfasetup
  5. In the dropdown menu choose “use verification code from app or token”
  6. Check the Authentication Phone Box and enter your cell phone number
  7. Check the Authenticator App or Token Box and then Click the button that says Set Up Authenticator App
  8. Scan the QR code that shows on your Computer Screen with the App on your phone
  9. When the QR registers it will show you a screen (on your phone) with your Army e-mail address
  10. Click on that e-mail address
  11. Click on enable Phone Sign in
  12. On your computer Click Next
  13. On your phone click Approve
  14. On your phone click Continue
  15. On your phone – Enter Password screen should pop up – Enter your Active Directory (Windows) Password
  16. On your phone click Approve
  17. On your phone – click Register
  18. On your computer Open a browser and go to office.com
  19. Sign in using your e-mail address as your user name and your Active Directory password
  20. It will send an approval button to your phone – Click Approve

    If all of this has taken place – you are all set.

    From now on when anyone attempts to log into any Office applications using your credentials, from any computer – the approval button will show on your cell phone.
